When You Can't See the Light | What to Do When the World Seems Dark
Would you rather watch fireworks, a drone display, or shooting stars?
What stood out to you most from the message?
Where are you experiencing darkness right now? Where have you experienced it in the past?
How do you normally respond when darkness starts to surround you? Why do you think that is?
What step do you need to take: Admit the darkness, expose it to the Light, or walk in the Light?
Read John 8:12. What would it look like to let Jesus shine Light on the darkness in your life?
Read Proverbs 4:18 and Revelation 21:23. How do these verses give you hope for the future?
What’s one thing you can do this week to follow Jesus out of the darkness and into the Light?
Let’s end our time praying together.
You can say something like, “Jesus, thank you for loving us by shining Light in our lives and exposing the darkness. Please help us to know what steps we need to take, and give us the strength to do it. You are the hope that we need. In the identity and character of your name we pray, amen.”
The timing wasn't accidental.
During a festival that celebrated God's presence through light, Jesus stood up and said, "I am the light of the world." Why did he say it then? And what does it mean for us when we're facing our own darkness?
This week, Alli Patterson unpacks how we can walk in the light, even when it feels far away.
