One of the most compelling stories in history is the Exodus. An entire nation, millions of people, went from enslaved and oppressed to freedom. But many of them wanted to go back into the comfort in Egypt. Egypt was safer. Egypt was familiar. What happens when we recognize our own Egypt? What can we do about it and how can we start fresh with a whole new chapter? This weekend we’ll unpack what that can look like for each of us and for our church.
What's the best thing going on in your life right now?
What stood out to you most from the message?
Describe a dream or a goal you have. How could that fit with what God has for you?
What is your go-to when you feel stressed or overwhelmed?
Read Isaiah 31:1 - What is your Egypt? (Below are some questions to help you out)
- What keeps you from depending on God?
- Is there something you feel like you couldn’t live without?
- What are you clinging to that God doesn’t want you to cling to?
- What does God want you to leave behind?
We will always feel uncomfortable when leaving Egypt. What’s your response when you consider what you might have to give up?
Read Luke 9:23-25 - When we leave our Egypt, we pick up our cross and die to ourselves. How does this passage bring challenge and encouragement?
What’s one step you can take this week to identify your Egypt and experience freedom? Think about asking someone to hold you accountable to take that step.
