What’s the hardest test you’ve ever experienced? The LSATs? Every conversation with your neighbor? The kids when they’re on a sugar rush?
What stood out to you most from the message?
Read Genesis 22:1-2. How would you feel if you were Abraham, after waiting so long to see God’s promise fulfilled?
What makes surrendering things to God, especially things that are answered prayers, so hard?
Read Philippians 4:11-13. Why do you think God values the tension, or those in-between moments? What might God want to do in those areas?
What is something God might be asking you to surrender? What could it look like to let it go (even just a little bit) this week?
After each person shares, encourage them in prayer. You can say something like, “God, Thank you for your faithfulness to us. Help (insert person’s name) trust in you in and in your promises. Give us the peace and security only you can provide. Amen.”
Did you think that when you graduated from school you were done with tests? Sorry to burst your bubble, God gives us tests and he wants to know how we will respond.
