Light in Impossible Dark | Christmas Time Week 1
This year, more than ever, it seems like everyone is ready for Christmas. What are you most excited about this season? And Why?
2020 has likely either made you aware of dark places, or honestly, could have created some darkness in our lives we might not want to see. Where do you feel darkness in your life? (Hey, we all have something and we get power from light to overcome that darkness when we name it. Darkness is uncomfortable, but give it a try.)
Read Isaiah 42:16. Jesus is light in any darkness, and can give us a path out of the darkness. Brainstorm ways you can experience more light by being in relationship with Jesus this season.
Read Psalm 119:105. To experience light, we just have to take a step in that direction. What’s one way you can keep walking towards light this week?
Close your time taking turns praying or one person say this one over the group, “Jesus, thank you for being light. Thank you for the gift of Christmas. Come into those dark places in our lives and show us the path to light. Help us to follow you there. Amen.”
“Not now, Christmas. Read the room—seriously.” Anybody else feel like this year has been too painful, too hopeless, too dark to really consider celebrating anything? Yeah, us too. Yet the story of Christmas is that no situation is beyond God’s reach; nothing is too dark that his light cannot break through. Join us today as Alli talks about the light that Christmas means.
