Getting Out of the Wilderness | #GOALS Week 2

New year, same crap, right? Already the bright hopes of a new year have crashed into the ongoing dumpster fire reality we’re still facing. Yet the message of the Bible is that God will not leave us in the wilderness forever—there are good things yet to come. Today Brian gives us some practical tips for how to navigate the desert seasons of life.

Process, journal or discuss the themes of this article - here's a few questions to get the ball rolling...

Welcome to the Weekend Follow-Up. The questions below are for the weekend of Jan 9th & 10th.

  1. Happy New Year! We probably all have different expectations for 2021 coming out of last year. Share one thing you’re most hopeful for in the coming year.

  2. Stories of people being in a desert are recorded all throughout the bible. Share where you feel you are — or have been — in the desert. What makes it feel most like a desert (i.e. loneliness, uncertainty, etc.)?

  3. Read Isaiah 43:19. We have tools to use to allow God to form us even in a desert: spending time in the Bible, prayer, and being vulnerable with others. Which one stands out as one to invest in and why?

  4. We don’t know when or how time in a desert will end, but we do know God can do something with it. What is a practical way you can partner with God in your desert this week? If you aren’t currently in a desert, you can still take a step. Put it on your calendar so you’re sure to follow up.

  5. Close your time praying for the group or use this one, “God thank you for leading us to new places. We ask that you continue to show us ways to change and grow to be more like Jesus. Amen.”
