Don’t miss this opportunity to spend the week in Nicaragua with your Florence Community. You’ll spend the week working in local communities doing anything from digging out a trench for clean water to mixing concrete for chimneys. There’s also time to relax. Mornings and evenings you’ll get the chance to process your experience, share communal meals, have coffee on the porch or sing your heart out with a renewed sense of worship. And to top it off, you get to meet your sponsored Compassion child. It’s like nothing else on earth.

Traveling internationally always has some level of risk and we don’t take that lightly. Because of the recent political unrest in Nicaragua, the United States government has Nicaragua listed as a travel advisory three. With this information, we rely heavily on the partners who are living and working in Nicaragua every day to guide us and to provide us with accurate information. They have told us that roads have been clear and no violence has been seen where they are located for quite some time. They are able to work and live like they had before the unrest started and are ready to host groups in 2019. We also have multiple plans in place in the event of an unforeseen situation.

Day 1

Travel to Nicaragua

Day 2

Join the Amigos team and climb Cerro Negro (It’s a volcano!)

Day 3

Work with Amigos for Christ in the community

Day 4-5

Visit your compassion child (if you sponsor one) or work with Amigos for Christ* *Depending on where your Compassion child lives, you will visit with them either Tuesday or Wednesday and then work with Amigos the other day

Amigos for Christ

Amigos for Christ is a nonprofit organization that develops an intense and effective 7-year program that facilitates clean water getting into village homes, oral and physical health, community education, and economic development in rural Nicaraguan communities. We jump into work with Amigos every time we’re on Nicaraguan soil, because we trust and respect the way they’re revitalizing villages in simple but powerful ways.
